Lost your Federal Bank Card? Here Are the Ways to Block It.
The rates of theft in India have gone up, from around 340,000 reported cases in 2011 to 580,000 cases in 2021. Wallet, mobile phone, and credit card theft make up a big chunk of that amount. As alarming as these statistics are, there is no telling what situation one might find themselves in and when. Taking care of the card and making sure it stays intact, is the responsibility of the owner.
But, here's what a Federal Bank card owner can do in case they happen to have their card stolen or misplaced.
What Can One Do about Their Stolen/Misplaced Card?
With Federal Bank, there are a few different ways a cardholder can report a problem or block a card. These include using FedMobile(mobile banking), FedNet(internet banking), through an SMS, or through calling a contact centre or visiting a branch.
Blocking a Debit Card:
- Through FedMobile: Through the mobile service, the card can be blocked by going to the menu and selecting the option 'Account Services', then selecting 'Manage Debit Cards'. This will display a list of cards. Select the correct one and choose 'Block This Card'.
- Through FedNet: On the FedNet portal, choose the option 'Debit Card Services' followed by 'Block Debit Card'. Select the desired card from the list and click 'Submit'.
- Through SMS: Send the message ' BLOCK <space> Last Four Digits of the Debit Card' to the numbers 5676762 OR 919895088888. The registered number for the card will receive an instant blocking confirmation message.
- Contact Centre: An Indian resident may call the toll-free numbers 1800- 425 -1199 or 1800-420-1199 and enlist the help of our service executives. Customers from abroad may dial +91-484- 2630994 or + 91-484-2630995 for the same.
- Through a back branch: As a last resort, just pay a quick visit to the nearest branch where the bank officials will be happy to help.
Blocking a Credit Card:
A credit card can be blocked in one of 2 ways:
- For assistance with a misplaced credit card, an Indian resident may call the toll-free numbers 1800- 425 -1199 or 1800-420-1199 and cardholders abroad may contact +91-484- 2630994.
- A mail can be dropped at creditcards@federalbank.co.in with the details of the card.
- Log in to the FedNet account and select the 'Credit Card' module on the home screen. Select the 'Manage Credit Card' option and follow the rest of the process through the 'Report Credit Card' option.
