UPI Circle enables you to authorize trusted contacts to make UPI payments on your behalf regardless of whether they have an active banking instrument. Two types of authorization is possible under this functionality -
Full Delegation*: A primary user fully authorizes a secondary user(s) to make UPI transactions and defines spend limits by authorizing via primary user’s UPI PIN.
Partial Delegation* – The primary user grants partial authorization to a secondary user(s), requiring each UPI payment initiated by the secondary user to be approved by the primary user within a specified time limit.
*Actual option displayed will vary depending on the UPI App.

You can activate UPI Circle from any supporting UPI App.

You can add a secondary user either via selecting from contacts list or by entering or scanning their UPI QR.

UPI Circle works on the concept of a primary user "adding" secondary users to perform UPI payments on their behalf. The primary user needs to be an existing UPI user, while the secondary user needs to be onboarded on a supported UPI App. The secondary user may or may not have an active banking instrument.

UPI Circle is fully interoperable i.e the primary and secondary user can be on any supporting UPI App.

Currently, you can add up to 5 secondary users across all UPI Apps. This limit is subject to change based on NPCI guidelines.

  • Full Delegation: Maximum limit of ₹15000 per authorization per month is permitted. Per transaction limit of ₹5000 is applicable.
  • Partial Delegation: Transaction limits for partial delegation transaction will be as per daily UPI limits of the primary user.

As of now, only savings and current accounts will be available for selection. These are subject to change as per NPCI guidelines.

Under full delegation, you can specify the maximum amount the secondary user can spend within the authorization you have provided. In partial delegation, you can authorize each transaction the secondary user initiates, allowing you to review the transaction particulars before authorizing the payment. Every payment the secondary user makes will also reflect in the transaction history of the primary user's UPI App as well as bank statement.

Both P2P and P2M UPI transactions can be done under this functionality.

Yes, as a primary user you can remove the secondary user(s) via the UPI App from which you had added them.
