Federal Bank Hormis Memorial Foundation
Federal Bank has instituted a public charitable trust by name Federal Bank Hormis Memorial Foundation in 1996 to perpetuate the fond memory of late K. P. Hormis, the founder of the Bank. The Trust is striving hard to inculcate in people better knowledge and awareness in the field of banking through training programmes, focused seminars, and so on. The trust and its activities were inaugurated by the then Union Finance Minister Shri. P. Chidambaram at Ernakulam on 18.10.1996.
The Bank has a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy which is approved by the Board of Directors of the Bank, as mandated by Companies Act, 2013. The Policy elucidates in detail on the CSR Vision, the Committee and the CSR projects & activities of the Bank through the focus areas as notified under Section 135 of the Companies Act 2013 read with Companies (Corporate Social Responsibility Policy) Rules 2014 and objectives of the Federal Bank Hormis Memorial Foundation as mentioned in the trust deed. The “Federal Bank Hormis Memorial Foundation” is the principal arm in implementing various CSR programs / projects of the Bank.
The CSR projects are executed under the Federal Bank Hormis Memorial Foundation, which acts as a special purpose vehicle for implementation of CSR activities of the Bank.
- Eradicating hunger, poverty and malnutrition, promoting preventive healthcare and sanitation and making available safe drinking water
- Promoting education, including special education and employment enhancing vocation skills, especially among children, women, elderly and differently abled and livelihood enhancement projects.
- Promoting Gender equality, empowering women, setting up homes and hostels for women and orphans, setting up of old age homes, daycare centers and such other facilities for senior citizens and measures for reducing inequalities faced by socially and economically backward groups.
- Ensuring environment sustainability, ecological balance, protection of flora and fauna, animal welfare, agro forestry, conservation of natural resources and maintaining quality of soil, air and water.
- Protection of national heritage, art and culture including restoration of buildings and sites of historical importance and works of art, setting up public libraries, protection and development of traditional arts and handicrafts.
- Measures for the benefit of armed force veterans, war widows and their dependents.
- Training to promote rural sports, nationally recognized sports, Paralympics sports and Olympic sports.
- Contribution to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund or/and any other fund set up by the Central Government for socio-economic development and relief and welfare of the Scheduled Caste, the Scheduled tribes, other backward classes, minorities and women.
- Contribution of funds provided to technology incubators located within academic institutions located within academic institutions which are approved by the Central Government.
- Rural development projects.
- Slum area development.
- Provide continuing education and training to persons employed in Banking industry on aspects of banking, finance, economics and management
- Inculcate better knowledge and awareness on developments in the field of banking and finance among the public at large through conferences and seminars
- Establish libraries and public information related to banking, finance and economics
- Establish educational grants / scholarships / awards to deserving students undergoing specialized courses in fields related to banking. (Over a period of time, this Trust has participated in various philanthropic activities for the benefit of the society at large including grant of scholarships for students undergoing various professional courses.)

Since the year 2005, Federal Bank Hormis Memorial Foundation has been providing scholarships to meritorious students who belong to financially weaker sections of society for pursuing various professional courses such as Medicine (MBBS), Engineering (BE/B Tech), B.Sc. Agriculture, B.Sc. Nursing and MBA from the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Punjab, Maharashtra and Karnataka. Over these years, 1,960 students have benefitted from the scholarship facility. A total of 310 students were awarded the FHMF Scholarship in FY2022-23. The Bank invited applications through an online portal which was launched on 18th October for FY2023-24. 4,060 applications have been received and 476 students were selected.
