NCMC RuPay Contactless Debit Card
National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) is a feature introduced on RuPay Contactless Debit Card which allows you to make payments across NCMC enabled terminals at metro stations, parking lots etc in a fraction of second, just by tapping the card on the card reader. NCMC is equipped with multiple functions, including offline wallet payments (currently up to Rs.2000/- and subject to change as prescribed by RBI from time to time) to simplify travel across different modes by digitising payment. Offline Contactless Payments
The contactless payments made after loading money in the wallet are referred to as offline payments. Offline payments do not require an online connectivity with the card issuing bank, hence you don’t need to enter 4-digit pin. Card wallet balance is used to make such offline mode of payments and you can make payments up to INR 2000 with this functionality.

- How to update the Balance on the Offline Wallet?
When customer performs Add Money transaction through bank’s E-CHANNELS, he/she must mandatorily perform Balance Update transaction at the designated Transport Operator/Terminal. Terminal operator will double tap the card on the device for updating the same.
- How to spend the money via Offline Wallet?
Customer must activate the Offline wallet and perform ‘Add Money’ to maintain necessary balance, to use the card for metro transit cases. At entry gate of metro station, customer is required to tap the card at designated device and can start the journey. Once the journey is completed, customer must tap the card again at the exit gate. AFC (Automatic Fare Calculator) System of metro will calculate the fare and deduct the amount from offline wallet.
- What is the upper limit of an offline transaction?
The upper limit of an offline payment transaction shall be INR 200 and subject to change from time-to-time basis as per the guidelines. The upper limit for an offline payment transaction is set at the merchant terminals.
- What is the difference between a regular Rupay Debit Card and a NCMC RuPay Debit card?
NCMC RuPay Debit is a Dual Interface card which supports both online (contact and contactless) and Offline(contactless) transactions. A normal Rupay debit card without contactless feature will not support the NCMC. Those cards issued after April 2022 will only support the NCMC feature. The NCMC Rupay Debit Cards have the provision of storing money on the card which can be used to initiate contactless wallet payments (offline payments) across various use cases like toll, metro, railways, transit, parking etc.
- How do I know if my RuPay Debit Card is a contactless card?
To know if the card is RuPay Contactless, you need to check for the contactless Indicator printed on the card.
- Could I unknowingly make a purchase if I come across the contactless card reader?
No, the operator must enter the payment amount for initiating the transaction. Also, the card or device must be held within 4 inches of the card reader to make any payment. Also, you are allowed to switch-on/switch-off contactless functionality and set the limit through ATM, Branch, Internet Banking & Mobile Banking.
Fed Net Internet Banking
- Customer shall login to Fed Net and select ‘Debit Card ON/OFF’ from ‘Debit Card Services’
- Customer shall select the debit card number from the drop-down list as mentioned below.
- Customer shall change the status to ON/OFF for the various debit card features as mentioned below and click on ‘Continue’ button.
- Customer shall enter the Fed Net 2FA SMS/ code and submit the details.
- Customer will be shown the confirmation page with the status of ON/OFF requests.
FedMobile Mobile Banking
Customers can login in FedMobile →Debit Card Management and Enable/Disable Card the below five functionalities.

Federal Bank ATM
- Visit any federal bank ATM.
- Insert your card.
- Select language.
- Select "more services" option.
- Select "Enable/Disable" option.

Visit any Federal Bank branch and request staff to enable/disable features.
- Will I be charged additionally for making contactless payments?
No, there are no additional charges levied to make a contactless payment.
- If my PIN is blocked, can I use RuPay NCMC card for contactless payments?
Yes, all the contactless wallet payments can be done without entering the PIN up to Rs.2000.
- How will I know if the transaction is successful?
If the transaction is successful, terminal/ device will display the message. Also, you may receive charge slip after doing the transaction.
- What should I do if my card is lost?
As a cardholder, you are responsible for the security of the card. If the card is lost or stolen, you should report the loss/ theft to Bank’s customer care centre and get the card blocked permanently, upon adequate verification or can block the debit card permanently using the various self-service options like FedMobile, FedNet, Federal Bank branches and IVR. Balance in the wallet of the card shall not be refunded back in case of card lost even on intimation to the Bank. Bank will not bear any liability for the residual balance on the offline wallet if the NCMC Debit Card is lost and misused.
Various process of blocking the card is as follows:
FedMobile:
- The customer can login in his FedMobile app
- Open the Card management portal.
- Under this portal the wearable would be visible as a wearable with masked card number.
- For blocking the wearable an option would be shown in the card management portal, the customer can proceed after entering the MPIN.
FedNet:
- Login in FedNet portal using login ID and password.
- Under the debit card services he may choose block debit card.
- Once he selects the wearable from the dropdown menu, a reason for the same would be required.
- After providing the reason the customer can click on continue and card would be blocked.
IVR:
The card holders may directly call the toll-free numbers 1800- 425 -1199 or 1800-420-1199.
Branch:
Customer can directly approach the branch official to block the debit card.
- Can I transfer funds from card Wallet to my primary account?
No, as per the bank guidelines you will not be allowed to transfer back the fund from card wallet to the main account. This transfer cannot be done under any circumstances.
- Do I earn Interest on card balance/Wallet Account balance?
You will not get any interest on the card balance/Wallet Account balance as it is being treated as prepaid payment instrument.
- Do I receive outstanding wallet balance in my account in case of Card closure/damage/replacement?
Customer must ensure that the outstanding wallet balance is fully utilized before surrendering the card for closure. The amount once loaded in the card’s offline wallet cannot be refunded under any circumstances.
- What is the card renewal process upon expiry?
The expiry date of the card is printed on the card itself. In case of expired cards, all the functioning and services of the card/wallet will also expire. In case of re-issuance of card, the card will be automatically issued through the bank’s system.
- What if I wave the card more than twice at the terminal? Will I be charged repeatedly?
No. Once a payment is successful (one tap or two tap, depending upon transactions), a new payment transaction has to be initiated by again tapping the card. Multiple taps will not result in deducting the amount more than once.
- Where can I view my wallet transaction history?
The last 20 transaction details would be visible in FedNet, under Debit Card services>> NCMC Wallet (Rupay Cards). Kindly note that the transaction details would be updated on T+1 basis. (where T is the date of transaction). The customer can check the exact balance at NCMC POS enabled terminals.
